Care

Chiropractic

A chiropractor examines how you move, explains what they find and, if you agree, adjusts your spine and joints by hand. It is for adults.

Dr. Kanaan and Dr. Boone are licensed chiropractors. Chiropractic care is not a substitute for medical care.

What to expect

  • 01

    What a visit includes

A talk, an exam and, if you want it, adjusting.

    • Your chiropractor explains each step before it starts

    • A short exam of how you move

    • Adjusting by hand, only if you agree

    • You can stop or say no at any point

  • 02

    How long and how often

A first visit takes 45 to 60 minutes and later visits are shorter. Your chiropractor sets a plan with you after the exam and changes it as you go. We do not promise a number of visits.

  • 03

    What we do not claim

We do not claim that adjusting changes any disease or condition, and results vary. Chiropractic care is not a substitute for medical care, and we do not tell anyone to stop seeing their doctor.

  • 04

    Neck adjustments and risks

If your chiropractor suggests adjusting your neck, they explain the risks first, including the rare but serious risk of injury to an artery in the neck, and you decide. Soreness for a day or two is common.

  • 05

    See a physician first

Call your doctor before booking, or go to an emergency room, for a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, chest pain, or pain after a fall or a crash. The notice at the foot of this page lists the signs that mean call 911.

  • 06

    How it is paid

Some health plans pay for part of a chiropractic visit. The fees page says how we bill, what a plan may not pay and how to ask for a written estimate.

Questions about chiropractic

Is chiropractic safe?

Every kind of care has risks. Soreness after an adjustment is common and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported, and your chiropractor explains the risks before you decide. If a doctor has told you to avoid chiropractic care, tell us and we will not treat you.

Do I need x-rays?

Only when it is medically necessary. Your chiropractor tells you why before ordering one, and you can say no.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure and movement, not pain, and some are sore the next day. Say so at any point and your chiropractor changes what they are doing.

Tell us a good time. A first visit starts with a conversation.

  • A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
